The point is located just up stream from Mountain Creek Lodge river right. The levee forest above this tall herb community is a successional white pine forest (BLUE.68). Roughly 150 m south of this point is a gorge slope dissected by hemlock-chestnut oak ridge spurs (BLUE.66) and sugar maple-basswood draws (BLUE.67). Across the river is an open mown lawn under a Platanus occidentalis woodland.;This is an open sunny tall herb community dominated by Verbesina alternifolia and Phalaris arundinaceae. The community is probably kept open by frequent flooding.
Representativeness
Point was surveyed while exploring the conifer signature on the levee above. The point is similar to a plot sampled south of the Little Bluestone. This would make a good place for a full plot if better examples are not found. Additional notes, not found o
